Utah anglers had a standout year in 2025, landing five impressive new state fishing records across multiple categories. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources — which has tracked record catches for over a century — highlighted the achievements as a celebration of both angler skill and the state’s thriving fisheries.
Two catch‑and‑release records came from Gunnison Bend and Huntington North reservoirs, including Jesse Pashia’s pair of white crappie records and Adam Cunningham’s 29.5‑inch wiper. On the harvest side, William Stafford set a new catch‑and‑keep wiper record at Otter Creek Reservoir with an 18‑pound giant.
Sand Hollow Reservoir produced another standout: Chris Anderson’s hybrid sunfish, a bluegill–green sunfish mix, weighing just over a pound. And in the spearfishing category, Garion Rowett set a new Arctic grayling record at Fish Lake in the Uinta Mountains.
Utah now boasts over 100 active fishing records across angling, catch‑and‑release, spearfishing, setline and archery categories. With dozens of species eligible and countless productive waters — from Blue Ribbon Fisheries to local reservoirs — anglers have plenty of opportunities to chase the next record‑breaker.
